About Me

I was born in Iowa in a town of 400 and has been climbing the population ladder ever since. Based in Minneapolis, I am a queer theater maker creating work at the intersection of art and social change. In 2004, Aamera Siddiqui & I co-founded Exposed Brick Theatre, and  we have been co-creating theater spaces that center belonging and access for the past 21 years. In 2023, co-director Signe V. Harriday and I were named Favorite Directors by the Twin Cities Theater Bloggers for the play PASSAGE. Additional directing credits include Aamera Siddiqui’s LOG KYA KAHENGE, FREEDOM DAZE & CLOTH.

I have completed the Level 2 Consent Forward Artist Training through the Intimacy Directors & Choreographers. I have worked as the Intimacy Director for productions at Pillsbury House + Theatre, South Asian Arts & Theatre House and Theatre Mu. I have also led Consent & Boundary workshops for Blake High School and St Paul Conservatory for Performing Arts, among others.

In addition to theater, my big love is artistic (synchronized) swimming. I am a member of the Subversive Sirens, a synchronized swimming team committed to Black liberation, equity in aquatics, radical body acceptance & queer visibility.
